1st Annual Iron Max Award Honoring Youth Leadership and Team Spirit
The 1st Annual Iron Max Award was established to honor the legacy of Max Pound and his deep love for the Wakefield Chapel Wahoos Swim Team, a cornerstone youth athletics program serving families in the Wakefield Chapel community.
The Wakefield Chapel Wahoos, home to more than 250 swimmers ages 4 to 18, is dedicated to supporting swimmers of all ages and abilities as they develop strong swimming technique, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Rooted in community values, the Wahoos foster resilience, discipline, and camaraderie—qualities that defined Max both in and out of competition.
In recognition of these shared values, the Iron Max Award was presented to two outstanding swimmers who exemplified the grit, determination, leadership, and team spirit that Max embodied. The award celebrates young athletes who lead with heart, persevere through challenges, and uplift their teammates—reflecting the belief that once a Wahoo, always a Wahoo.
By honoring youth athletes through the Iron Max Award, The Max Pound Foundation continues its commitment to uplifting community-based programs and inspiring the next generation to lead with strength, compassion, and perseverance—both in sport and in life.
