OUR SECOND ANNUAL 5K
Woodson HS Charity 5K: Running Through Rain for The Max Pound Foundation — No Storm Can Stop Us! Over $8,000 raised!
In May 2024, The Max Pound Foundation proudly hosted Strides for Pediatric Brain Cancer, a Woodson High School charity 5K rallying runners, walkers, families, students, and neighbors to raise awareness and support for pediatric brain cancer research. Despite rainy conditions, the community united with determination and heart — proving that no storm can stop our mission to fight pediatric brain tumors and support affected children and families.
This charity run was part of a growing tradition of community‑driven pediatric brain cancer fundraising events that bring together local supporters and advocates to push forward research, increase awareness, and inspire hope for a cure. Strides for Pediatric Brain Cancer encouraged participants of all ages to come together to honor those affected by pediatric brain cancer and raise critical funds for transformative research and family support programs.

Community Spirit & Purpose
Hosted at Woodson High School in Fairfax, Virginia, the Strides 5K event drew community members from across the region, strengthening connections while spotlighting the urgent need for investment in pediatric brain tumor research. Events like this underscore how local engagement fuels national impact in the fight against childhood brain cancer.
Why It Matters
Each step taken at Strides for Pediatric Brain Cancer helped amplify awareness of the impact of pediatric brain tumors — a leading cause of cancer‑related death in children — and encouraged long‑term support for research that aims to improve diagnostics, treatments, and outcomes for young patients.
By blending community connection with purpose‑driven action, this charity 5K brought together next‑generation advocates and seasoned supporters alike, all walking and running toward a future where children with brain cancer can thrive.
